Closing the loop between edge and cloud

EdgeLab is a full-stack environment for testing, benchmarking and evolving AI workloads on real edge infrastructure.

See how it works

Edge is hard. The tooling has not kept up.

Deploying AI to the cloud is straightforward. The infrastructure is standardised, the tools are mature and testing is fast.

The edge is different. Devices are heterogeneous: different chips, different architectures, different software stacks, different support and different performance characteristics. Models that work in the cloud don't always run on edge hardware. And the only way to know is to test on the actual device.

Hardware choices are fragmented

New accelerators, devices and architectures emerge quickly. Faster than you can evaluate them.

Cloud performance ≠ edge performance

Latency, throughput, memory usage and power consumption only become visible in real deployment conditions.

Edge AI is more than a model

Real-world performance is shaped by the combined behaviour of devices, software, infrastructure and workloads.

The future is distributed

Modern edge solutions span multiple devices, locations and cloud resources.

From first test to field deployment.
On hardware you don't own.

EdgeLab gives you structured, hands-on access to a curated fleet of real edge devices. You bring your workload. We handle the infrastructure.

Benchmark

Run your model on real hardware and see how it actually performs.

Benchmark

Learn

Identify bottlenecks and evaluate improvements across hardware and software configurations.

Learn

Develop

Get hands-on access to your chosen device through interactive sessions.

Deploy

When you're done, EdgeLab provides you with the container images and device configuration you need to replicate the setup on your own hardware. Plug it in, it works.

A real lab. Built in Leuven.
Designed to scale beyond it.

EdgeLab's primary cluster is hosted at the centre of silicon innovation in imec's headquarters in Leuven, Belgium.

But our standardised and reproducible architecture allows clusters to be connected and managed from anywhere.

Built on decades of hardware research

EdgeLab is an initiative of imec, the world's leading independent research centre on nano-electronics, with more than 40 years of experience at the intersection of hardware and software. That independence matters: imec has no stake in which hardware you choose. Our benchmarks are produced by researchers, not by vendors.

EdgeLab is part of the broader imec research mission to make edge computing accessible, reproducible, and ready for the next generation of intelligent systems.

Ready to test?

EdgeLab is currently in beta and available to a limited group of partners as we refine the platform. Tell us about your workload or hardware questions, and we'll get back to you within a few business days.
